RENT THE MORTON

On the corner of Washington Street and Hull Street stands a piece of Athens history which has provided an extraordinary venue for patrons since 1910. The Morton Theatre boasts state-of-the-art lighting and audio systems framed in the simple elegance of a brilliant bluesy décor.  The antiqued seating is reminiscent of a bygone era in Athens' rich history.

The Morton Theatre is a popular choice for the performing arts thanks to its charmingly classic ambiance and storied past.

When you perform at the Morton, time seems to reverse and your event borrows the spirit of the roaring 20's when big bands reigned, and attending a night at the theatre ignited a spark within the soul.

RENTAL PROCESS

1. CHECK DATE AVAILABILITY

Check to see if your desired date(s) are available on our Rental Calendar. Events scheduled for less than 30 days from the booking date may not be possible. If you have any questions about date availability, please contact our administrative office at 706-613-3770 for further information.

2. SUBMIT FORM

In order to officially hold your requested date, fill out the online Space Reservation Form, and submit your $30 application fee (additional $5 processing fee applies for online payment). Your event information need not be finalized - changes can be made as we approach your event date. In order to avoid the $5 processing fee you may mail in your $30 application fee or submit in person.

3. verify booking information

Once your space reservation form and application fee are submitted, we will send you a booking packet containing your contract, facility procedures and guidelines, and an estimate of your total rental cost. The estimate is used to calculate your deposit amount, which is 50% of the total estimated cost (25% for non-profit organizations. An IRS 501(c)(3) must be provided to confirm non-profit status).

4. submit signed CONTRACT AND DEPOSIT

Return your signed contract to our office, along with the non-refundable deposit to confirm your booking. The remaining rental balance must be paid in full one week prior to the first rental date. If The Morton serves as full box office for your event, collected ticket income can be credited in lieu of final payment, as long as ticket income meets or exceeds the balance due for facility rental.

5. secure event insurance and confirm production meeting

Your booking packet will include an appointment date for a production meeting to finalize the details of your event. The meeting will take place approximately 30 days prior to your rental start date. At that time, you will be required to submit proof of event liability insurance. For assistance with event insurance please see our list of event insurance brokers.
