ADMISSION: Free
SEATING: General Admission
DESCRIPTION:
The Athens Cultural Affairs Commission presents a free screening of the film "Sadie" with writer/director Megan Griffiths as part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. Following a screening of the film, Griffiths will participate in a discussion with the audience about her film and work hosted by Andrew Shearer of Gonzoriffic Films.
Synopsis: While her father is away serving in the military, 13-year-old Sadie is a soldier on the battlefield of the trailer park where she lives. With humor and humanity, this coming of age story explores Sadie’s young life, school bullying, and her mother taking an interest in a new man. By testing boundaries and fighting for the people she cares for, Sadie reckons with the realities of solving problems in a difficult, violent world.
The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers is a program of South Arts. Southern Circuit screenings are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. For more information, visit www.southarts.org.
