DESCRIPTION:
Buck and the Preacher (1972), iconic actor Sidney Poitier's directorial debut, tells the story of a heroic group of formerly enslaved African Americans who seek a new life in the American West. Harry Belafonte, himself an iconic performer and civil rights activist, stars with Poitier as well as with Ruby Dee. The film is significant historically both as a film and as the telling of a history. It is shown in tribute to Mr. Belafonte, the last of the three groundbreaking actors to pass away.
